Animal Planet's "The Ultimate Zoo"

On 2005, TV channel "Animal Planet" had released a rather short-lived series called The Ultimate Zoo.  What this TV series is about is that it covers some of the greatest zoo exhibits across the world and the stories behind them.

Many of them are high tech and are the way of the future, while others are low tech, but do an excellent job for one or more species.

After a year or two, the series sadly got cancelled.  After that, the show was barely mentioned or heard of again, even on the Animal Planet website (which is a PAIN to go through).  There has not been a dvd release or even footage in the internet for the shows fans to watch or those who don't know it to enjoy.

That was, until I came about.

While the show was airing, I was in a "record it on VHS" stage and amongst the shows I've recorded, most of the Ultimate Zoo's episodes are among them.

For those interested or have been looking for the said show, I have uploaded at least 11 episodes of the show on Youtube (and, mind you, I have NO claims to the show or ownership, I am only interested in presenting the show to the general public for educational purposes).

A 'Mammoth' Question

  (Discover Magazine) While watching philosophical debates by Captain Picard on the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" series, I was also reading some articles about the idea of bringing back extinct species of animals, the woolly mammoth in particular. For those who are not familiar with this, here's a short version of it:  You can't clone a woolly mammoth by using ancient tissue (for you need an intact cell, as opposed to just DNA, to fully resurrect a woolly mammoth) since even the most intact tissue is still in terrible condition.  So,  instead of cloning, scientists plan to use genetic-modification.  By using a tool called CRISPR, scientists could modify elephants with traits of mammoth, via using the fragmented mammoth DNA that has been discovered.  By doing this, you shall get a mammoth-like creature.
